Event to benefit Heart Failure Program at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center

PHOENIX (July 2010) — Banner Health Foundation, the philanthropic resource for the Phoenix-based non-profit Banner Health, will host the 56th annual Candlelight Capers Ball at the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa on Saturday, Dec. 11. The signature fundraising event for Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, this year’s gala, dubbed “An Evening in Monte Carlo,” will benefit the hospital’s Heart Failure Program, a division of the Cavanagh Heart Center at Banner Good Samaritan.

More than five million Americans are affected by heart failure. An estimated 700,000 new heart failure cases are diagnosed each year; nearly 300,000 deaths are attributed to the condition annually. The Cavanagh Heart Center is a leader in keeping Valley hearts healthy. It specializes in everything from basic cardiac care to technologically-advanced treatments for patients who have exhausted all other options through a comprehensive Heart Failure Program.

Started as a tea dance more than a half century ago, Candlelight Capers has become the primary fundraising event for Banner Good Samaritan. Proceeds from the 2009 ball, totaling $380,000, supported the early detection, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer at the Laura Dreier Breast Center.

The 2010 Candlelight Capers Ball begins at 6 p.m. with cocktails and a silent auction; dinner at 8 p.m. Tickets, which include a cocktail reception, silent auction, dinner, dancing and a live auction, are priced at $250 per person. Sponsorships range from $5,000 to $25,000.

Honorary event chairs include: Mr. and Mrs. Alfredo Molina, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Van Winkle and Dr. and Mrs. Kurt Zangerle.

To purchase tickets or to inquire about sponsorship opportunities, please call (602) 747-GIVE (4483). Generous support of Candlelight Capers ensures we will continue to mend broken hearts.
